Felted Crochet Bag

Voiced by Amazon Polly
Wool Clásica, Pre-Felt
7mm hook, double croochet piece 5.5″ x 3″
7mm, single crochet piece 8″ x 3.5″
I received some Manos del Uruguay Wool Clasica as a gift last year and I’ve been pondering what to do with it.  The colors I have are lovely and the yarn is soft.  Since it is a single, I thought perhaps I’d do a felt project. I was thinking perhaps a vest, but I am shy about 150 yards because of shrinkage.

Speaking of shrinkage, I really expected more. However, I’ve not felted any tapestry crochet work (the two-toned piece) so perhaps that kept it from shrinking as much in height. Just goes to show – swatching is important every time!

Quick color sketch for possible organic pattern
A felted project bag might be nice. The colors (named “juniper” and “caribe multi”) have enough contrast that I can probably do some great color work.   I am thinking something with an organic feel, like sky, mountain outline, water. Something like the color sketch at left.

Or, maybe I’ll do something a bit more geometric…  below is another quick partial color sketch.

Of course, the organic one will be easier to put to pattern and to actually crochet.  The geometric one will be more challenging because of all the stitch counting.
