In my stash, I have some lovely Araucania Nuble in a colorway called Berry Pie (shown at bottom of image on left).
I also have some wonderful Artyarns Silk Mohair in light lavender and some equally awesome Schulana Kid Seta in magenta (single strand laying across larger amount of lavender). These are shown at the top of the image at left.
I decided to try to put them together for… not sure what. In the middle of the image, you can see what the Nuble looks like when combined with the Artyarns and when combined with the Kid Seta. On the cake, they seem quite different.
However, the differences are more subtle. As you can see in the image on the right, the Araucania really helps smooth the differences between the two colors of silk/mohair.
The first four rows (counting from bottom) are Araucania Nuble #7 with light lavender silk mohair, the next 4 rows (counting row on needle) are the same Nuble but with magenta silk mohair.
I was going to do some sort of brioche knit pattern, but the differences were really too subtle for me to justify the extra work and extra yarn. So, now I’m thinking perhaps a crochet entrelac pattern. That will be my next swatch. Stay tuned.
